Wow...what a week! I didn't get my posts done for the week on Thursday like I wanted to as I was helping the kids make Velntines boxes for school...to find out they were on mid-winter break! Ugh! Anyway, it was fun letting them pick out their paper to decorate. I then chose ribbons to match the papers. I wish I would have taken pics though! Maybe I still can since they didn't need to open the anyway. :)
On tap for the weekend: laundry, 5-4-$5 prep to take to Diane's at the end of the month, prepping for technique class this next Friday and Sale-a-bration Stamp-a-stack on Saturday. Probably a little bit of cleaning too...yuck...hehe.
Today I am home alone. James went to Elkhart for training on suicide prevention & detection offered through the church district. He has been working with the youth of the church and one of their Sunday night series had to do with To Save A Life...a video series based on the movie.
So I plan on housework, some organization in the stamp room and just "chillaxing". I've been sick this week...getting worse as the week goes on...sinus infection, head throbbing, ears whishing, throat sore, voice coming/going and coughing.
This has been a spiritual roller coast week for me! Read more here.
I also made cards for the SCS VSN mini Friday night. That was fun...stamping in the quietness of my home (James was away at a teen overnighter at the church). I also did some for the main event VSN that will be held the last weekend of February. I'm making those now as I have a workshop that weekend! Because I was a "hostess" I am able to see all the challenges for both the mini and the main event! You can see my Friday VSN submissions at my gallery. The submissions for the main event are not posted at this time (except for other hostesses to see). Sorry! Those can't go up until the main event! :)
This morning I realized that I hadn't gotten to my post for the week...again! I'm not going to make excuses for it either! So needless to say I will be catching up with that today.
Today is Monday...a cold and snowy start to the week. So what are your plans for the week? Snuggle in and stamp? Snuggle in and read? Snuggle in and just snuggle? I ar reading "Forgotten God" for my Wednesday night bible study at the church and "Boundaries" as my own personal read at this time. Tonight James has Navigator 2:7 at the church with the guys so I'll work on my bible study in the quietness and then work on my posts for the week. No Facebook tonight until that is done!
There are a number of ways to journal. You can purchase a journal, compostion book (and decorate to your liking as my two samples show), a pad of paper or online (with a blog) or a scrapbook.
My first comp book is for journaling my bible study. I record specific verses, thoughts for my daily bible reading. I may also include so notes in here regarding my daily reading in books to help me grow spiritually and emotionally. I am currently reading "Boundaries" by Dr. Henry Cloud/Dr. John Townsend. Online Redemptive Ramblings will be more delving into my personal insights of what I read and the 5 W's and 1 H on what is happening regarding this area in my life.
My second comp book is for journaling my weight loss. I am really struggling right now with a lot of things and I need to put myself in my right mind! I am currently listening to an online version of Weigh Down at Home, a Christian based weight loss program. As I listen, I am taking notes, writing down all scriptures and putting it into prospective. On SparkPeople I will be posting my personal insights on this aspect of my life.
As far as scrapbooking, I did do scrapbook journaling when I was trying to lose weight through using Beachbody products. I found it easier to do it in a 6 x 6 format as I could put pictures on one page and use the other for journaling.
Journaling allows you to get the thoughts out of your head, onto paper and then helps you gain insight into your daily thinking and life. In recording it, you are in first-person mode, but when reading you are in third person mode and can therefore look at it differently. It also gives you the chance to see where you were compared to where you are, and where you want to be!
Whatever you choose to do, just do it. Post your creation online if you decided to "dress up" a book for your journaling. Add a link into the comment section below.
So we are at the end of the week. I babysat for three days; making Christmas cards with them the first day, cookies the second day and then started scrapbooks with them on Wednesday. :) Thursday was a work day for me as we were doing inventory! So....today is a clean up day! Sweeping, shampooing, laundry, mopping. :) Next week I will be working in my stamp room since I'll be home all week! I'll post pictures daily as I get to working and organizing! Yikes! hehe
Jasmine made this card for her dad.
This was Trenton's creation for his dad.
Jasmine cutting the cookie dough....watch those fingers there girl!
Jasmine taking the cookies from the cookie sheets...what a great helper this one is...think I will keep her!
Our notorious cookie thief Chad...we turned our back for a second, low and behold a cookie we were missing! LOL
Jasmine and Trenton did the frosting. I think they did more licking than frosting! LOL I actually gave them paper towels for their hands after the first lick or two!
Trenton needed a lot of guidance with frosting...he took "forever" to do a cookie as he thought it had to be "perfectly" spread. :)
The baby and I did all the sprinkles...at least this was something that he could do! He did help put some of the raw cookie dough on the trays (we offered him a piece of raw and he didn't want it though!)
This Saturday we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Why is this so important?
Isaiah 9:6-7 (700 years before the birth of Christ)
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.
John 3:16-18
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
Luke 1:29-33
Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”
Matthew 1:20-23
But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
